I am not sure why, could it be because there is spacing between the parts of the bearing (i.e. ![]() I am able create a shape from the mesh, however when I go to convert it to a solid, it tells me that the "Shape is not a shell". I analyzed the STL file as you said and performed the Decimation operation on it. I would also note, that unless you intend on actually modifying the stl/mesh, it can be used as is for positioning or working around. Then attempt to convert to shape, then solid. If it is ok, then Meshes>Decimation to reduce the number of triangle tiles in the mesh. If it isn't and that can't fix it, then it is not surprising the conversion process hangs. Have you confirmed it is a valid (mainfold) stl file? (Mesh workbench Meshes>Analyze) Does anyone know a different way to do this, or if there are certain settings I can change to speed up the process? The problem I have is that creating the shape from mesh freezes FreeCAD and it stops responding.
